Ingredients
2 lbs beef chuck, cut in cubes (or stew meat)
1 T Salt
2 Bay leaves
2 T cooking oil
1 T Lemon Juice
Dash of Allspice
4 Cups water
1 tsp Sugar
6 Carrots, sliced
1 Onion, sliced
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 lb small white pearl onions
1 clove garlic
Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp paprika
1 pkg brown gravy mix
Directions
In heavy frying pan brown meat in oil. Turn often to brown all sides (15 min). Transfer to stock pot or large sauce pan, add water, onion, garlic (on toothpick to remove easily) salt, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, paprika
bay leaves, all-spice. Cover and simmer on low heat (do not boil) for 2 hours. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. When meat is almost done, add carrots, pearl onions, potatoes and simmer for 30 minutes (or more). Discard Bay leaf & Garlic.
